Role of Police
  Since policing is a constitutional obligation on the part of the government; police organization is the main administrative apparatus in the hands of the government to safeguard people's constitutional rights and to maintain law and order in` the country.
 
Major Functions Include :
To preserve public order and create and maintain a feeling of security in the community.
To reduce opportunities for the commission of crime and to protect life and property of people.
To investigate crime as well as to apprehend offenders and participate in the related legal proceedings.
To aid individuals who are in danger of physical harm.
To facilitate orderly movement of people and vehicles on the roads.
To provide services and extend relief to those people who are in distress.
To acquire and exchange criminal intelligence and other relevant informations with Interpol.
To participate in UN Peace-Keeping Operations under United Nations supervision.
To counsel and promote amity and harmony in domestic and other social disputes.
